All you Zuni Fetish collectors know, or at least know of Andres Quandelacy. He is one of the most famous Zuni Carvers. His carvings are very recognizable because of his unique style and detail. He seldom signs his cavings because any seasoned collector knows his unique style. It seems all Zuni Fetish collectors must have a few of Andres carvings to make there collection complete. Zuni Fetishes ~ Stone Carvings are a very popular and enjoyable collectables. Even if you have just one favorite animal you can collect them in different types and colors of stone. This buffalo is carved of Picture Jasper by Clive Hustito our good friend and well known carver. We picked this one up today along with some moose by his son Jonas. Hello and Welcome to Blue Stone Zuni Fetishes and Much Much More. We are fortunate to live in the Heart of Indian Country, the Zuni Mountains just outside of the little town of Ramah, New Mexico. Our passion is Navajo and Zuni hand made cultural art and jewelry. Finances have been down so we have'nt been able to stock our eBay Store with as many of our local items as we would like. Hopefully soon we will have a turn around. Yesterday we met with Herbert Halate our good friend and well known Zuni Fetish Carver. As you collectors know his style is very pleasing with his super smooth lines and high gloss finish. His choice of material is Jet ~ gem quality coal and Herb only uses the best, when he can find it. Once in awhile the quality is less the first grade. The best jet usually comes from Pennsylvania. It is very clear, meaning little to no matrix ~ lines of other minerals mixed in the jet. There are other suppliers of jet from Nebraska, Ohio etc. but much of the time the Jet from those locations are lased with other minerals and weakness in dencity ~ showing compression fracures and other flaws. We were able to purchase two Bear from Herb and of course they are listed in our store. We also have three of Herbert's Mountain Lions. One listed for only .99NR.
